The launch ceremony of the first Goldreed Industrial Design Award was held at the Xiongan New Area on November 21st, 2019, marking the first million-yuan prize of industrial design in Xiongan New Area. Over 350 people consisting of Designers, media, famous brands, manufacturers both from home and abroad were attracted to witness the moment.

Goldreed Industrial Design Award(“GIDA” for short), supported by the government of Hebei province and administrative committee of Xiongan New Area, China, is an international design prize driven by globalization, specialization and market orientation. The prize is created to discover future design, inspire future life and empower future cities by exploring the Chinese concept of “harmony” and exchanging the global experience of good designs featuring intelligence and sustainable development.

A group of crucial official leaders and experts of industrial design were invited to attend the launch ceremony, which included Chen Gang, Member of the Standing Committee of Hebei Provincial CPC Committee, Vice Governor, Xiongan New Area CPC Working Committee Secretary, Administrative Committee Director, David Kusuma, President-Elect of WDO, Tian Jinchang, Deputy secretary of the CPC working committee, the Executive deputy director of the management committee, secretary of the party committee of China Xiongan Group, Chairman of China Xiongan Group, Yu Xiaodong, deputy Director of Industry Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Xu Kehua, Deputy Director-General of the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hebei Province, He Renke, President of Goldreed Industrial Design Award and Shirley Feng, Director of Hebei Industrial Design Innovation Center.

David Kusuma, President-Elect of WDO, delivered a speech on the ceremony, and he said that China has gain a global reputation on the hi-tech manufacture, which could be detected not only in the field of technological innovation but also the power of design. He knew that a great number of countries and international corporations have started to learn from Chinese experience to inspire them find the best industrial solutions. He also believed that the importance of innovation and design would increase steadily in China with the implementation of?Made in China 2025. It would upgrade the manufacturing capability of Chinese industrial into a more technology-intensive powerhouse. Therefore, the GIDA would be created as an international award to manifest the best innovation and design worldwide.

Chen Gang, Director of Xiongan New Area, Hebei Province of China Administrative Committee, stated on his keynote speech that the establishment of GIDA would have a significant impact on the industrial design of Hebei Province and construction of Xiongan New Area. Without good design, the future wouldn’t be bright. He wished that GIDA would be built into a global design award with international reputation, to boost the construction of Xiongan New Area, the constant creativity of industrial design of Hebei province and manufacturing upgrade of China.
